ABOUT
MY BOYS HOOP
Our Story | Why MyBoysHoop Started
DETROIT COMMUNITY OUTREACH SUPPORT
MyBoysHoop is a movement born in Detroit, powered by purpose, and rooted in the game of basketball. We’re not just here to train athletes — we’re here to raise up community leaders, inspire action, and heal what’s hurting in our neighborhoods. Through mentorship, outreach, and service-driven programming, we equip youth and adults alike to step into their full potential — both on and off the court.
We use basketball as a launchpad, but the mission goes far beyond the game. From feeding families and strengthening mental health, to organizing leagues and leading cleanup crews — MyBoysHoop is showing up for Detroit in a real way.
Because when we hoop, we heal. And when we grow, we give.

MEET THE FOUNDER | EJ KING
I’m EJ King — a husband, a father, and a believer that basketball can be a tool for real-world transformation.
The name “MyBoysHoop” started as a proud dad moment — just watching my sons do what they love. But it quickly became something deeper. As I grew in my faith, I realized the game wasn’t just about points and trophies — it was about purpose.
Over the years, I’ve trained players, led camps, and connected with athletes from every walk of life. What I saw again and again was that the game creates access — to opportunity, to mentorship, to personal growth. That’s when I knew: this needed to become a platform.
I launched MyBoysHoop in 2024. I saw the power and underrepresentation of women in the game — and that’s where MyGirlsHoop comes in. This is a mission that includes everyone.
We may not be the single solution to every challenge in our communities. But with your help, I believe we can change the trajectory of lives — together.
My Boys Hoop Programs
WeHoop isn’t just an idea — it’s action. Our programs are designed to directly impact lives while fostering connection, development, and long-term growth.
WHY WE DO IT
3.2% of high school players go on to play in college
0.3% make it to the NBA
But 100% of our players can give back
That’s our purpose: developing everyday champions who serve their community.
